Pacer Cartage selects Trinium Technologies' solutions for operating systems Pacer Cartage, Inc., has selected Trinium Technologies as its technology provider to enhance its cartage operating systems and processes. Pacer Cartage is part of Pacer Stacktrain, the wholesale arm of Pacer International, Inc. (Nasdaq:PACR). The cartage operation, through a nationwide network of 18 terminals, provides intermodal drayage, harbor drayage, CFS (container freight station) pick-up, and local and regional full- and partial-load pickup and delivery. "Pacer Cartage selected a range of solutions provided by Trinium to drive efficiencies and quality throughout our operations," said Tom Shurstad, president of Pacer Stacktrain. "Specifically, we selected the Trinium TMS (Transportation Management System) as the core application to handle orders, operations, invoicing, driver payment and equipment management." Additionally, added Shurstad, Pacer decided to deploy a number of sub-modules provided by Trinium -- most notably, Trinium’s Mobilecomm Module for remote dispatching; Trinium’s DMS (Distribution Management System) to operate less-than-truckload (LTL) and cross-dock operations; and the Event Management Module to drive work flow and provide automated customer notifications. “This project is about creating customer satisfaction,” added Bob Sweitzer, Pacer Cartage's senior vice president for the Western Region. “It’s not just a systems project but a company-wide change initiative to enhance service and create efficiencies for our customers. We reviewed a large number of potential vendors and Trinium’s product suite seems ideally suited from the standpoint of functional fit and improved productivity for both the company and the customer. “Picking a technology vendor is about more than the technology itself," Sweitzer added. "The team at Trinium really understands the challenges of intermodal operations and our company's long-range goals as a wholesale provider to a diverse customer base." “We are very excited about working with Pacer Cartage," said Michael Thomas, Trinium’s chief executive officer.
